July 16 at the Echo is our next LA[Heart]SF event. The bill features LA's Flying Tourbillion Orchestra, The Monolators, Kissing Cousins, and special guests The Damselles. Representing San Francisco will be French Miami.

Drake is not the norm, but his transition from actor on a teen melodrama to rapper on Lil Wayne's label holds many lessons valuable to indie bands. Nothing comes from nothing, and despite his television presence, Drake built his rap career the old fashioned way. Whether it's a buzzed about rapper like Drake, or an indie band like the Gris Gris, or even immortals like the Beatles, the path to musical success always relies upon the same principles.
